Definition:
An RCB, or Residual Current Breaker, is an electrical device that protects against electric shocks and earth faults. It's also known as an RCD, or Residual Current Device.
How it works:
RCBs monitor the balance between live and neutral currents.
If there's an imbalance, the RCB trips the circuit and cuts off the power supply.
This helps prevent electric shocks and fire hazards.
Where it's used
RCBs are important in residential homes, particularly in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas.
They're also used in industrial settings to protect machinery and workers.
Testing
RCBs can be tested with a built-in test button to confirm basic functionality.
If the switch mechanism is stuck, it can be freed up temporarily by manually operating the switch a few times.
In the video it is tested by the use of an energy cell, it is a simple and safe way of testing
