I am taking us on a journey back in time with me as we explore how we shopped before the internet—when home deliveries, convenience, and community were already part of everyday life. and all before online shopping was not even a future fantasy
In this nostalgic video, we take a journey through the 1950s, 60s, 70s and even earlier, to rediscover how our parents and grandparents had groceries, food, treats, and household essentials delivered right to their doors—long before online shopping ever existed.
From the milkman, baker, coal man, and (soda) pop delivery, to mobile food vans that brought fresh produce, meat, and even fish and chips almost to your doorstep, home shopping was already thriving… but with something today often lacks: human connection.
We’ll look back at:
✨ How everyday essentials were delivered by friendly, familiar faces
✨ The sociable nature of doorstep shopping and how it strengthened community bonds
✨ Ordering by phone when you still spoke to a real person who knew your name
✨ How treats, books, groceries, and even heating fuels were brought to you
✨ The charm of fish and chip vans, mobile shops, and weekly neighbourhood rounds
This is a warm, reflective look at the era before the digital age—when convenience didn’t mean isolation, and shopping from home meant interacting with your community maybe bumping into neighbours or friends.
If you love nostalgia, memories from simpler times, or learning how life worked before the internet changed everything, this video is for you.
