Flying the Pilatus PC-24 to South America – Final Leg
In this final leg of our ferry flight from San Antonio, Texas, to Punta del Este, Uruguay, we’re departing Arica, Chile, and making our way to our final destination. The departure follows an RNAV procedure, allowing us to gain altitude efficiently while staying along the coastline before turning eastbound to avoid mechanical turbulence over the Andes.
During the en route phase, we captured some stunning time-lapse footage of convective activity developing over northern Argentina—definitely a highlight of this leg.
Unfortunately, we lost cockpit audio due to a drained capture device, but the GoPro footage is intact, showcasing our descent into Uruguay and the RNP approach into Punta del Este.
Overall, the aircraft performed exceptionally well throughout the trip, with outstanding support from Universal Trip Support, and I couldn’t have asked for a better copilot than Connor Barrett, whose details are listed below for those in need of an experienced PC-24 contract pilot.
