The Hemlock Avenue House, a testament to the visionary design of Jamie Chioco, stands as a testament to both architectural ingenuity and personal connection. Located in the vibrant East Austin neighborhood of Cherrywood, this two-bedroom residence is a product of Chioco's deep-rooted understanding of the site, a result of sixteen years of ownership and intimate familiarity with the property.
In 2017, Chioco embarked on a transformative journey, deciding to start anew rather than renovating the existing 1950s home. Instead of discarding the perfectly serviceable structure, he opted for a more sustainable approach, relocating the 750-square-foot house to a new location two miles away. This decision not only preserved a valuable resource but also allowed Chioco to envision a fresh and innovative design for his personal sanctuary.
