In this video we take a close look at the ShengShou 8X8. This is the first 8x8 on the market. People have been anticipating this cube for a long time.

Even though there are some differences between this and the V Cube patent, I still consider this cube to be a knock-off. I personally don't have morality issues about buying knock offs because I also support the real product. If you are going to buy knock off puzzles the least you can do is buy the real thing too just to support the original designer.

This cube is heavy. Not as heavy as the 11x11, but it's definitely up there in weight. The turning is smooth for the most part, but the inner layers are a bit grindy and I'm hoping that that will go away with breaking in. Somebody told me about a small mod that can be done where you take a corner section of the cube out at a time and scrape away all the little bits of plastic that was left from the mold and that will make the grinding go away, however when I tried this I found that mine was pretty clean and I couldn't find any bits of plastic to shave down. I will try again pretty soon and see if there is something I can do.
