Day 4 - of my sourdough starter
Today we’re feeding a very active, slightly wet starter, adjusting texture, and talking about why weight matters more than volume when measuring flour.
If your starter smells yeasty and shows bubbles, you’re on the right track. If your first bake doesn’t work later on, that doesn’t mean failure — it just means your culture needs more time.
Whole wheat and splitting into two jars coming up in the next few days.
Be warned, sometimes I go off on tangents. You will hear about curtain behaviours, basil discussions and talk of hydroponic systems that aren't yet fully set up...but that is just how I talk. The core information about teaching a sourdough starter and weights, et., are in there.
