Written and directed by James Napier Robertson, Joika is based on the true story of Joy Womack; who as a fifteen-year-old American ballerina from Texas, moves to Moscow to train at the notoriously tough Bolshoi Ballet Academy and pushes herself to her absolute limits in her pursuit of becoming a Prima Ballerina.
Produced by Tom Hern, Belindalee Hope and Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowska, Joika is a New Zealand, Polish Co-Production made with support from NZFC and the New Zealand screen production rebate.
