Spelthorne Gymnastics

We have a membership of around 1,000 children some of whom attend training 7 or more times per week. We also accommodate a dance school, cheerleading club, yoga classes and other health related activities. One of the kids in the photos below could be a World Champion in a few years from now!
Unfortunately, in 2013 we were served an eviction notice on our current gymnastics facility in Ashford Middlesex to allow for a housing development. We decided that we could not allow the Club to close so we started looking for an alternative site. We found a site adjacent to the Bishop Wand School in Sunbury on Thames and secured planning premission with a detailed design for a new gymnastics/sports centre to be constructed.
The developer on our existing site, Inland Homes, has very kindly extended our lease at no cost to allow us time to build this new facility. Since 2013 we have been raising funds towards the construction of the new facility which will serve our existing membership of 1,000 children together with the 1,000 students at Bishop Wand School. Our overall project costs are around £2.8m and we have raised a massive £2.4m so far. We are being supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools, Sport England, The Marathon Trust, British Gymnastics, Surrey County Council, Inland Homes.

More future champions!

The design of the new facility includes several energy efficient systems such as Combined Heat & Power Plant, Air Source Heat Pumps, Efficient Light Fittings and Efficient Lighting Controls. The efficient energy systems that we are installing will cost around £97k and will save 50 metric tonnes of carbon per annum, so we are trying to raise as much money towards that cost as we can. Work has already started on site and completion is anticipated around April/May 2017.
