Distress Leather Boots | How To | Adam Cooper

How To Distress and Weather a pair of leather boots using household items.

You will need Acetone (I have used acetone based nail polish remover)
An old rag
A hammer
A Hacksaw (or any suitable blade)
Sandpaper (or any rough surface - the courser the better)
Dust, dirt, soot, ash, sand, just about anything to rub some colour into them to finish off that well travelled look

My first LARP how to. As part of my NPC kit for Futures End I need to take a decent pair of boots and make them look lived in, worn in, and well travelled. Follow me through this first tutorial as I show you how to transform a nice pair of boots into something straight out of the cyberpunk cities of tomorrow!

This tutorial is also suitable for Post Apocalyptic LARP and costume. For Post Apocalyptic I would suggest ash and yellow hued dirt as opposed to dust when applying weathering and colour to your boots.

I used a pair of New Rock Reactor boots for this tutorial, but it will work with any leather boots.

This tutorial can also be used for cosplay, halloween customs and just making a new pair of boots look worn in.
