Saint Kawa القديس كاوا

Saint Kawa of the city of Bamwa in Fayoum was martyred. Saint Kawa lived during the reign of Diocletian, who ordered the worship of idols. He lived in a house he built outside his town to devote himself to worship.



The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a vision and said to him: "Why are you here when the struggle is easy? Get up now and go to Lahun where you will find the messenger of the governor of Alexandria. Confess the name of the Lord Christ before him and you will receive the crown of martyrdom." Saint Kawa woke up joyfully and went to Lahun.



When he arrived, he found the messenger on the beach. When he saw the beauty of his white hair, he honored him greatly. Then the messenger took out a golden idol studded with precious jewels and said: "This is a gift from the king to the governor of Ansena." Saint Kawa took the idol and contemplated its manufacture, then threw it on the ground and smashed it.



The governor's messenger became angry and ordered that Saint Kawa be tied up and taken to the governor of Ansena. The governor tortured him severely and then sent him to the governor of Bahnesa, who tortured him as well. When Saint Kawa refused to worship idols, the governor ordered his execution.



Saint Kawa was beheaded and received the crown of martyrdom. The believers carried his body to his place of worship and buried him there. Then they built a church for him, and many miracles happened in it.

استشهد القديس كاوا من مدينة بموا بالفيوم. عاش القديس كاوا في عهد دقلديانوس الذي أمر بعبادة الأصنام، وكان يسكن في بيت بناه خارج بلدته ليكرس نفسه للعبادة.

ظهر له ملاك الرب في رؤيا وقال له: "لماذا أنت هنا والجهاد هين؟ قم الآن واذهب إلى اللاهون حيث تجد رسول والي الإسكندرية. اعترف باسم السيد المسيح أمامه وستنال إكليل الشهادة". استيقظ القديس كاوا فرحًا وذهب إلى اللاهون.

ولما وصل وجد الرسول على الشاطئ. فلما رأى جمال شعره الأبيض أكرمه كثيرًا. ثم أخرج الرسول صنمًا من ذهب مرصعًا بالجواهر الثمينة وقال: "هذه هدية من الملك لوالي أنصنا". فأخذ القديس كاوا الصنم وتأمل في صناعته ثم ألقاه على الأرض فحطمه.

فغضب رسول الوالي وأمر بربط القديس كاوا وإحضاره إلى والي أنصنا، فعذبه الوالي بشدة ثم أرسله إلى والي بهنسا الذي عذبه أيضًا. ولما رفض القديس كاوا عبادة الأصنام أمر الوالي بإعدامه.

فقطعت رأس القديس كاوا ونال إكليل الشهادة، فحمل المؤمنون جسده إلى مكان عبادته ودفنوه هناك، ثم بنوا له كنيسة، وحدثت فيها آيات كثيرة.
