Hepatitis A is a highly contagious viral infection that can make
people very ill or even kill them. The disease attacks the liver, and people spread it through contact with infected fecal matter. While no cure exists, a vaccine can prevent the disease. San Antonio pediatrician Ryan Van Ramshorst, MD, says he has treated children with hepatitis A, and it makes them incredibly sick. He describes a few of the common symptoms hepatitis A patients experience.
This video is part of a monthly TMA series highlighting contagious diseases that childhood and adult vaccinations can prevent.
