(Podcast) Anton Floyd interviewed by Eimear Barry Tierney

Poetry, Music & Magic is the name (coined by Catherine Ronan) of an event organised by DeBarra's Spoken Word. It takes place on Wednesday 26 February 2025 at DeBarra's Folk Club in Clonakilty, West Cork, Ireland.

It is part of a series of monthly events that has continued since October 2013 and grew out of the (then) Organic Arts Festival and the Clonakilty Writers' Group, which is going stronger than ever.

All sorts of spoken word are welcome. And anyone can speak. Or sing. There usually is an open mic as well as one or more special guests.

Poetry, Music & Magic is a hybrid event; poetry and music perfectly balanced. Selected writers will be presenting their work - poetry or flash fiction - accompanied by a live band.

Anton Floyd (https://antonfloyd.ie/) is an award-winning and published poet who has extensive experience in multimedia events and theatre. He will be performing alongside Michael Ray, Catherine Ronan, Kemi George-Simpson, Colm Scully, Paddy Doyle, Mona Lynch, Seamus Harrington, Nick Smith, Fiona Tracey, Paddy Duggan, Claire Barton, Stella Sweetnam and musicians Paul McMahon, Marie-Laure Haas, Moze Jacobs, Eoin Donoghue, Kevin O Shanahan. The latter are part of the Pied Wagtail Collective, which has been amalgamating music and spoken word since 2021.

Anton Floyd' will combine several poems from his magnificent poetry collection Depositions, which focuses on the plight of refugees and displaced persons (the global figure stands at over 125 million in February 2025, according to ChatGPT).
