Mahindra Alturas G4 : Mahindra's feature loaded Fortuner rival : PowerDrift

The most expensive Mahindra has undergone a major overhaul. It not only gets a new platform and a more appealing design, but also a new identity.
Christened as the Mahindra Alturas G4 for India, the 2nd generation Rexton is a seven-seater SUV that gets big and burly looks to give it the street presence highly sought after by the target audience. It is also brimmed with features and technology to bring the comfort levels on par with its rivals. At the heart of the Alturas is a 2.2-litre diesel engine developing 178hp and mated to a Mercedes gearbox.
Apart from the branding, the Alturas G4 is identical to the global-spec Rexton. The SsangYong badge might have failed to entice buyers away from the Fortuner and the Endeavour, but this Second Coming aims to capitalise on Mahindra's brand name. Glen takes a quick spin to get a taste of the new Alturas, while pondering whether the new strategy will work.
