The Importance of Maria in Silent Hill 2

A deep dive into Maria from Silent Hill 2, who serves as a reflection of James' late wife Mary, a chauvinist's reimagining of her, and arguably, the game's true antagonist. Through Maria, James is tempted to embrace his worst impulses, to the point where her influence can lead him to one of Silent Hill 2's darkest endings.
