If you ever want to escape the busy city life of Japan, how about giving Shirakawa-go a try!! One thing that makes this village unique is its thatched roofs; which provide good insulation, regulate room temperature, and even withstand various weather conditions. Getting reservations to stay in one of these traditional houses can be quite challenging so make sure you book wayy in advance! Even if you aren’t able to rsvp one, you can still experience what it’s like inside because they designated empty houses as “museums!”The locals are also very kind and welcoming (My favorite was Love-chan!!!)!
*I heard there is also the special “Water Hose Festival” during the summer; where the village fires 60+ hoses to test their fire extinguishing system. Seems like it could be a lot of fun because it can get reallllllllly hot and humid in Japan.
