Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has received a glimmer of hope as five retired Justices have submitted grounds of appeal to support his case. Barr. Opara revealed that Kanu was subjected to inhumane treatment in Kenya, where he was almost set ablaze, and has since been fighting for justice ¹.
A Kenyan court has already ruled that Kanu's arrest, detention, and extradition to Nigeria were unlawful, awarding him 10 million Kenyan shillings in damages. The Nigerian Supreme Court, however, has dismissed Kanu's appeal, stating that his trial should proceed despite the alleged illegalities ² ³.
