DISCLAIMER:
YOU CAN NOT PICK UP ANYTHING IN THE PETRIFIED FOREST NATIONAL PARK. WE DID NOT PICK UP ANY ROCKS WHILE THERE. HOWEVER, WE DID GO 20 MILES SOUTH OF THE PARK TO BLM LAND WHERE IT IS LEGAL TO PICK ROCKS UP ON BLM LAND: You’re allowed to collect up to 25 pounds plus one piece of petrified wood per day with a maximum of 250 pounds per person per year. Permits or contracts are required for pieces over 250 pounds. You may not trade, barter or sell the petrified wood you collect without a contract from the BLM. Learn more about the BLM Minerals Program.
Petrified Forest National Park is in northeastern Arizona. In its south, the Rainbow Forest is full of colorful petrified wood. It’s home to the Rainbow Forest Museum, with its paleontology exhibits and many trail access points. In the park's center are the petroglyphs of Newspaper Rock and the ruined village of Puerco Pueblo. To the north, the Painted Desert Inn, a 1930s adobe building, is a museum with Hopi murals. ― Google
