It’s crazy to think we have made it to our first ’town’ in over a month, but we’ve done it! Dutch Harbour is a town on the island of Unalaska with a rich history and a thriving fishing industry. We see our first bald eagles and otters here, fill up the tanks with some fuel and celebrate the 4th of July at the local parade in town. Unfortunately, it’s not all celebrations as we discover salt water is getting into our sail drive oil which means our cruising plans are about to change, we need to motor as little as possible and potentially book ourselves into a haul out yard asap. Nothing like a little curve ball thrown into our cruising plans but that’s just the life sailing for you!
