🧰 Step-by-Step Micro USB Port Replacement Tutorial:
1. Protect Surrounding Components
o Cover all nearby SMD components using heat-resistant tape to prevent accidental damage from hot air.
2. Secure PCB in Holder
o Place the phone's motherboard securely in a PCB holder for stability while working.
3. Apply Flux
o Generously apply flux around the Micro USB jack to make desoldering easier and cleaner.
4. Heat the Charging Port
o Use a hot air rework station at 350°C to 380°C and heat the port evenly until the solder melts.
5. Remove the Damaged Jack
o Carefully lift the charging port once the solder is fully melted. Avoid pulling too hard to protect PCB pads.
6. Clean Old Solder
o Use R350 solder wick to remove excess solder from the PCB pads for a clean new connection.
7. Install the New Connector
o Place the new Micro USB jack in the exact position.
8. Solder Back Pins First
o Using a soldering iron and 0.4mm solder wire, solder the back data and power pins of the connector.
9. Solder the Side Ground Pads
o Apply solder to all side points (grounding pads) of the new jack for stability and proper grounding.
10. Final Cleaning
• Use MBC and a cotton swab to clean flux residue and inspect the solder joints.
11. Tips & Troubleshooting
• At the end of the video, I explain what to do if too much solder is applied, how to correct solder bridges, and tips for avoiding common mistakes.
