This is a play-through using Onslaught in the Arcade version of Marvel vs. Capcom. Read on below for more information...

Onslaught is the last boss in the game, and comes in two forms. He is an unplayable character in this version of the game.

In this video, I have retained his 1st Form for all matches except for the last.

===== ABOUT ONSLAUGHT =====

Powerful Marvel comic villain who I believe is a combination of Magneto and Professor X through some kind of manifestation.

===== DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ARCADE AND CONSOLE =====

The Arcade version of Onslaught is very different to the console versions of him (DC and PS1). In the Arcade version, ALL of his moves are just normal Special Moves, meaning that you can use the Mega Laser, Magnetic Shockwave and Partner Switch moves whenever you want. In the console versions, these three moves are actually Hyper Combo moves, which requires the super gauge levels. The command to perform these moves are very different between the versions as well.

Therefore, this makes the Arcade version of Onslaught the best version of him to play as.

===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====

---- He can appear on the character select screen perfectly.

---- He can actually move forward or backward. The CPU Onslaught never does this.

---- He cannot jump nor crouch.

---- When you play as him, for some reason he does not have the flames on his hand like the CPU Onslaught does when in his stance.

---- When playing as him, he does not have any basic moves. Which means that the 6 buttons on their own do not do anything.

---- In-fight, he does not have the normal Special Partner command. Therefore it doesn't matter which Special Partner is selected for him.

---- He does not have a super gauge bar, and does not need any super gauge levels.

---- When you use the Random Partner Switch move, the character who comes in is randomly chosen.

---- When you use the Random Partner Switch move, the character who comes is controlled by the human player as well.

---- When you use the Random Partner Switch move and your partner character is defeated, the current music stops and then it plays Onslaught's 1st Form BGM before Onslaught teleports back in.

---- When playing as 1st Form Onslaught on any other background besides his own one, he cannot transform into his 2nd Form if he loses his 1st Form.

---- When you "complete" the game with him (using a trick) you get a picture of the roster, which is the same one used at the end of the game's intro. There is also a message at the bottom which says "MARVEL VS CAPCOM COMING SOON". This appears to be an image for an early beta testing version of the game.

---- There seems to be no command to perform his Sentinel B0mb helpers. You know the one where he goes "HA HA HA!" when the CPU does it.

---- When he gets hit with a multi-hit super combo, such as a beam super, he cannot teleport out of it. Only the CPU Onslaught can do this.

---- If you play though single-player and get to CPU Onslaught with him, CPU Onslaught's colour palette is semi-flawed for certain movements. This is because the game registers both 1P and 2P as Onslaught, so it allocates a "2nd palette" for the other Onslaught. Obviously because a proper 2nd palette wasn't made for him, it results in flawed colours.

---- When fighting against CPU Onslaught at the end, if you defeat him then it's actually YOU that turns into 2nd Form Onslaught for some reason. The CPU Onslaught is then stuck in a stun/stance animation and cannot be hit. The game cannot progress from here unless you use further alternate methods.

---- Unlike the PS1 and DC versions of him, when you move forward or backward and stop with Onslaught, he stops immediately. In the console versions he floats forward/backward slightly after stopping from moving.

==== ABOUT MVC1 =====

MvC1 is one of my all-time favorite fighting games... I probably like it more than MvC2. It really was the game that showed how good crossovers from multiple franchises can be. The Special Partner feature is a cool idea as it added some uniqueness and variety to the main gameplay, and also allowed us to see what other characters from other franchises and Marvel looked like under Capcom's Vs series artists. The soundtrack is decent as well. You know, I really wish Ryu had his personal theme rather than the SFII Title theme...
