Join us on the Japan Craft Tour 2026, an unforgettable journey for craft enthusiasts passionate about traditional crafts and Japan travel. After our November tour sold out quickly, we’ve added a February 2026 departure. The adventure begins in Tokyo Nihonbashi, where we visit the flagship Cohana store, a paradise for sewing lovers. Here, the CEO of Cohana gives us a personal lecture and introduction to the brand’s exclusive sewing tools—an experience you cannot find anywhere else. You’ll also enjoy beautifully prepared hotel breakfasts, early morning visits to Tokyo shrines, and a hands-on wagashi workshop making Japanese sweets paired with matcha.
Craft experiences include colorful Temari ball making and a visit to Setsuko Torii’s studio in Kyoto, where the workshop changes depending on participants’ skill level—it might be hand knitting, machine knitting, or another textile-based experience. New from this year’s tour is a Sashiko embroidery workshop, giving participants the chance to explore another side of Japanese stitching traditions. We also travel to Tokushima for Natural Dyeing workshops, featuring authentic indigo dyeing at Watanabe farm, where you’ll dye a t-shirt and bandana using age-old, sustainable methods.
In Kyoto, highlights include the Tenugui museum of Japanese hand towels, sightseeing at Kiyomizu-dera, the Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji), and the magical Fushimi Inari Shrine. Other immersive workshops feature creating Yubinuki thimbles, learning fabric wrapping techniques, and exploring antiques at the Toji Temple market, while enjoying the best of Japanese cuisine from sushi dinners to okonomiyaki and barbecue.
