Artbooks “CARBON 3 & 4” (Mark Schultz)

Primeros libros que muestro en el canal y que no pertenecen a mi colección, sino a la de un colega que es fan de Mark Schultz y que amablemente me los ha dejado para que les eche un vistazo (y vosotros también).

Se trata de los libros 3 (2018) y 4 (2021) de la serie “CARBON”, publicada por Flesk y dedicada a la obra de este mítico artista estadounidense. La serie sigue activa y, como podéis ver, cada número se centra en una temática específica, siendo el último número publicado el 5 (2023).

Se podría decir que la increíble obra de Mark Schultz es el resultado de combinar un gran talento para el dibujo y su pasión por la ciencia y la historia natural, dando como resultado series como “Xenozoic Tales”, que se llevó a la animación y al videojuego con el título “Cadillacs & Dinosaurs”. Os suena, ¿verdad?

El dominio del grafito, la tinta y el color que tiene este artista es brutal y estos libros nos permiten ser testigos de ello, con un gran formato y muy buen papel, incluyendo desplegables con unas imágenes a doble página impresionantes.

El haber podido recorrer esta colección de imágenes me da el último empujón en la decisión de hacerme con el libro de arte “PORTFOLIO”, también publicado por Flesk y que reúne mas de 400 dibujos del artista. No me digáis que no es tentador:

The first books I’m showing on the channel that don’t belong to my own collection, but rather to a colleague’s, who is a big fan of Mark Schultz and was kind enough to lend them to me so I could take a look (and so you can too).

These are volumes 3 (2018) and 4 (2021) of the “CARBON” series, published by Flesk and dedicated to the work of this legendary American artist. The series is still ongoing and, as you can see, each volume focuses on a specific theme, with the latest one being number 5 (2023).

You could say that the incredible work of Mark Schultz is the result of combining his great talent for drawing with his passion for science and natural history, which gave rise to series such as “Xenozoic Tales”. This one was adapted into both an animated series and a video game under the title “Cadillacs & Dinosaurs”. Sounds familiar, right?

His mastery of graphite, ink, and color is stunning, and these books let us witness it in all its glory, with a large format, excellent paper quality, and even fold-outs with impressive double-page spreads.

Going through this collection of images has given me the final push to go after the art book “PORTFOLIO”, also published by Flesk, which gathers more than 400 of the artist’s drawings. Tell me that’s not tempting:
