NKP 765 is a 2-8-4 steam engine built in 1944 for the Nickel Plate Road. It is currently owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This video shows 765's trip from Glenview Illinois to Janesville Wisconsin and back. It also includes footage from our DJI Phantom 3 drone. You've probably never seen a steam engine from this angle before!
As far as I know, we were the only people to film the entire process of 765 turning around in Janesville. And we did it with a drone!
765 was in Chicago for the entire weekend. This video is from Sunday, June 12, 2016. The previous day (Saturday June 11, 2016) 765 was on display, under steam, at the Franklin Park Railroad Days festival. You can see that video here: • Steam Engine NKP 765 on Display in Frankli...
If you want to see 765 yourself, either on display in Fort Wayne or pulling a train, you can visit the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's website for more information: www.fortwaynerailroad.org
