Virology Lectures 2025 #11: The Infected Cell

Huge quantities of energy, nucleic acid precursors, proteins and lipids are needed to produce new viruses in an infected cell. In this lecture we present an integrated description of how virus infection redirects and often compromises normal cell physiology, including metabolism, RNA and protein synthesis, signal transduction pathways, and trafficking systems.

I’m Vincent Racaniello, Earth’s Virology Professor, and I believe that education should be free.
