Episode 25 of my 2025 challenge to photograph 250 species of birds in Massachusetts. An American Avocet showed up at Plum Island and I wasted no time in getting it on the list the day it showed up. Then it stayed for weeks! I also added Whimbrel bringing the shorebird total to 31 for the year. But the big surprise was a roosting Whip-poor-will - a bird that is very difficult to photograph. Since no-one reads the descriptions of YouTube videos I'm not spoiling anuything. I also saw two different Dickcissels, one on my home patch. .
My current gear:
Canon R7 mirrorless camera (great with a few caveats)
Canon RF 100-500 mm lens (fantastic)
DJI Mic 2 lapel microphone (not recommended)
