Today this dry cleaner is going to show you how to remove those annoying dirt stains from your fabric sneakers.
These are the steps, check the notes below for the science:
1) Mix 1 tbsp of soda, 2-3 drops of dish soap, and 1 cup of warm water
2) Apply to the stain and brush to increase the dish soaps ability to capture dirt, then wipe away with a clean towel
3) Air dry
This process will also work for dirt stains on your washable clothing!
First, the baking or washing soda to break the metallic bonds between the dirt and fabric. Then the dish soap, a surfactant, to surround and capture the dirt now that it's loose. The water will allow the captured dirt to be rinsed and removed from your shoes
Fun fact, baking soda was first introduced to laundry applications during the Manhattan project (atomic bomb research). The scientists were unable to remove the radioactive dust from their clothing with just laundry detergent. After lots of trial and error they found that baking soda breaks up those metallic bonds!!! Isn't that amazing?
I hope this helps!
