Shadows In The Light

Song #7 Shadows in the Light. This song is the internal struggle I face with myself. A daily battle that I fight, holding onto the things that are precious to me, that lead me to the light while being pulled into the darkness.
It's such a difficult concept to try to explain unless you go through it yourself. That inner voice that calls for your protection, tries to keep you safe from potential danger, fear. It's fear that leaves me feeling like I'm drowning. The unknown is a scary place, but I've realized that it's also what will lead me to a new and healing future. It's scary, and the fear of failure, the fear of all the things I've already been through is so strong and keeps me from experiencing those things. What was once my protection has now become my tomb. But I'm not ready to die. I'm ready to live and to fight, to be happy.
The shadows continuously pull me down because that was my safe reaction for most of my life. Somehow I have to reprogram myself to no longer identify these new feelings as threats. Like a computer seeing anti-virus software as a virus itself. Change is not easy, but in order to really reach the light, I have to enter those shadows and dispel the fear that's trapped me all those years.
