WeRide Launches Fully Unmanned Robotaxi Service in UAE

The autonomous vehicle tech startup, which went public on the Nasdaq last October, had been running these services with safety officers since December 2024.

WeRide is expanding quickly. Its autonomous taxis now operate in high-demand zones like Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. And just last month, it extended its partnership with Uber into Dubai, with plans to bring robotaxis to 15 cities globally over the next five years.

This marks a major step for the company, which is now testing its autonomous driving tech in 30 cities across 10 countries. Uber reportedly plans to make its largest-ever investment in autonomous driving technology through this collaboration with WeRide.
