The Railway Tunnel That Never Saw A Train - The Walk Snippets - Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire

Here is a snippet from our explore around the Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire.


We had a wonderful tour of the former Lea Bailey Gold Mine and narrow gauge railway, before walking down the trackbed of The Mitcheldean Road & Forest of Dean Junction Railway.


The railway was completed in 1882, along with Hawthorns Tunnel, but trains never actually passed through, and it was instead taken over by the admiralty (Royal Navy), to store torpedos, mines, and narrowgauge railway infrastructure.
