This is a Motormouth couple car review walk-around video of the all-new 2023 Toyota Prius hybrid car. Under the hood is the 5th generation hybrid powertrain coupled with a larger 2L engine and newly developed lithium-ion battery, located under the rear seat. Standard AWD in Canada, both FWD and AWD options in the US. It is the most fuel-efficient Prius ever with a combined 4.1L/100 km, 57 MPG. This new Prius is built on the second generation TNGA-C platform. This all-new Prius has an electronic on demand AWD system which uses a motor to drive the rear wheels for better grip when needed and stable acceleration The new battery pack offers a 15% increase in output compared to the previous generation nickel metal battery reducing size and weight. The Toyota Prius hybrid has a combined 196 horsepower for AWD and 194 horsepower for FWD models. Acceleration times have improved compared to the outgoing model. AWD models get a 0-100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds and 0-60 time of 7 seconds. The base trim in the US doesn’t have a lot of features, you get the 8” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. We recommend moving up to at least the middle trim for extra features like the larger 19” wheels, digital rear-view mirror with Homelink, heated front seats, power driver’s seat, softex upholstery, wireless charger and front and rear park assist. Optional features on this trim include the 12.3” touchscreen and the fixed glass roof. The top trim is where you will get you the heated steering, ventilated front seats, driver seat memory and you can add as an option to this trim, heated rear seats, digital rear-view mirror, panoramic view monitor and advance park. In Canada XLE model comes with an 8” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a heated leather steering wheel, heated front seats, power driver’s seat, Softex upholstery, a digital rear-view mirror, 6 USB-C ports, smart key with push button start and blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Limited: 12.3” touchscreen, 8-speaker JBL sound system, fixed glass roof, driver seat memory, ventilated front seats, rain sensing wipers, wireless charger, digital key, power tailgate, advanced park, heated rear seats, panoramic view monitor, front and rear parking assist. Available over the air updates and Prius owners using the Toyota app, can stay connected to their Prius with a standard 3-year trial of Remote Connect which allows you to remotely lock, unlock the doors and start/stop the vehicle. A digital key is standard on the the top trim which allows you to use your phone in place of the key fob.
