Senior Pastor Bill Rains continues in his "What Would Jesus Do" sermon series in Luke with a message about an encounter with Jesus and a widow in the town of Nain. This is a heartbreaking account of human tragedy of great proportion at first look. Jesus Christ can change lives and eternities for mankind and we'll discover how he did this for this grieving mother who lost her young son after already losing her husband. Jesus and his disciples were continuing their missionary journey through Israel when they came upon a city called Nain. As they approached the gate of the city, they witnessed a dead young man being carried out by pall bearers and a grieving mother along with many other people supporting her.
• The Heartaches Of Life
When we're young we don't think much about the end of our life. We put this off and imagine we have many, many years of youthful vigor to "Go for the Gusto!" In this passage of scripture we see Jesus encountering an early death of a young man and the incredible grief of a mother losing her most precious relationships in her life. We find Jesus observing this mothers HEARTACHE, tears and obvious great mourning and he had compassion on her. He spoke to her saying "Weep not". He then reached out and touched the casket and the pallbearers stopped.
• Hallelujah Day Coming
The funeral procession stopped and Jesus spoke directly to the dead body of this young man. He said: "Young man, I say unto thee, Arise!" Incredibly, he sat up and began to speak! Jesus then turned him to his mother. Can you imagine the incredible joy of seeing her son who she knew was dead, now alive and talking to her as if nothing happened at all? This is the power of Jesus to give us a day of "HALLELUJAH"! Jesus Christ is the resurrection and our only hope of eternal life! None of us can escape the HEARTACHES of this life, but we can access the power of God to give us a glorified, eternal body in Heaven if we have believed on and trusted Jesus for his promises of eternal life to those who make him Lord of their life! Have you done this? God says we must seek him out and cry out for salvation with a believing heart to experience eternal life.
