What happened to Throne & Liberty? This was the biggest MMO release of 2024 and back during the games launch I was enjoying it quite a lot, sinking in over 200 hours during the first month alone and even continued to play it for a few months after I stopped making content about it.
So why did I stop playing? Well I always thought Throne had quite clunky combat and I never really enjoyed the core gameplay that much, I also disliked that most of my time spent playing consisted of daily chores that I only put up with to keep up with the progression grind so I could do the guild vs guild content.
Basically, as soon as POE2 came out and I started playing something with actual fun core gameplay I couldn’t bring myself to log back into Throne, on top of that after I stopped playing, It felt like a weight off my shoulders with an extra hour of free time per day that I wasn’t doing the daily content chore list that Throne’s end game progression consists of.
Around the same time Ashes Of Creation also dropped its Alpha 2 Phase 1 which even in Alpha state I felt the combat was infinitely better than the combat in Throne & Liberty so the motivation to return to the game was quite low.
Recently however Throne And Liberty dropped a massive new expansion and as of right now the global version of the game appears to be pretty much caught up with the Korean version.
I wasn’t really super interested in returning to the game because the main reasons I stopped playing wasn’t due to content but the clunky combat and daily chores, however someone Tweeted me that along with the expansion the devs have indeed made some improvements to the feel of combat as well as address some of the critiques I had with the game in the past.
In this video I return to Throne And Liberty to try out the new Talandre expansion to see if It’s good enough to make me want to stick around.
