Building a Slide Out Bed and Dinette Benches in a Campervan

In this video, we build a slide-out bed and dinette seating in this campervan that we are building for a friend. This van is being built for a solo female traveling with her large dog so we wanted to make sure that the space was being maximized. This design allows the bed to take up minimal space during the day and then slide out to be a full-size bed at night. We essentially built a small deck for the start of this which was most likely overkill but this thing is extremely strong and isn't going anywhere so it was worth all that went into it.

Once we did this we created the slide-out portion using oak slats and spaced them out so there was enough space on both sides so it could slide in and out nicely. When this slides out it rests on both sides of the benches for support. This design turned out great and really does maximize the space in this van. We are doing this yet again in the Indiana winter which we told ourselves we would not do again after building our van in those conditions but here we are again. This time we at least have a space indoors which is a plus. We hope you enjoy and follow along for the entire series of this van build.
