#42 Christmas and Tapgas | Beach Farm in Northern Samar, Philippines

We usually spend Christmas Eve with immediate family and Christmas Day with our extended family. This 2023, instead of going to Nanny’s Farm, we had a new venue. As you’ll see from the video, going to the new venue was an adventure in itself, and the party ended with our usual pamasko to the kids (and the kids at heart).

For both Christmas and New Year, we usually have an after party. Warays call this “tapgas” where we bring extra food which weren’t eaten or finished on noche buena or media noche to share with others the day after. Tapgas is used not just during the Christmas holidays, but even for fiestas or birthdays. It’s one of those Waray words which can’t quite be translated to Filipino or English.

Most times, I post videos about the construction of our beach house/farm house in Northern Samar (which we've named Maya's Beach Farm) which began in January 2022 and was finished in August 2022. Since then, we have been working on some improvements to make the farm more livable.
