Lightweight Reliable

I have taken a turn from my original build, converting it to a lightweight build for a dedicated rimfire challenge and rimfire speed steel rifle. I also replaced the buffer with a ‪@BoreBuddy‬ bolt pressure plug so no need to have a buffer in there. I used a reduced-weight skeletonized buffer tube from ‪@jemachinetech‬, along with some other tiny upgrades to reduce overall weight.

This was a near-perfect 125 rds. except while editing, I noticed one failure to fire at the end of mag number 4. I didn't notice while shooting; But it has been to 3 matches prior as well as sighting in and target practicing without any problems after it was tuned. This may have been simply a dud or the chamber getting dirty. I currently have over 1500 rds. thought this rifle as of 9/14/2024 and that is my only noticed dud since tuning it. I have since fired it after the video, so it was totally random.

In the video, I demonstrate the rifle by shooting five 25-round magazines non-stop at AR500 Steel targets from Thor Targets In actual Rimfire Challenge competitions, a competitor will shoot strings of 5-7 targets, finishing with a stop target before starting the next string. In this video, for the sake of time and demonstration, I am just going to unload all five magazines.

If there is enough interest, I will make another video demonstrating what this rifle does on paper in the future. I am pretty surprised how well it does do on paper as Remington Thunderbolts at are considered plinking ammo by most shooters.

Feel free to ask me anything about dedicated .22LR rifles and conversion kits. My personal preference for shooting was never 22lr until having ammo prices skyrocket and having 3 kids and teaching them how to shoot, I learned to love the .22LR especially mimicking my favorite AR15 rifles.
