*DIY Gingerbread Dollhouse Renovation* | Part 5: Reveal & Room Tour!

Welcome to the reveal and tour of my Gingerbread Dollhouse Renovation! I cannot believe I have finally reached the finish line. Looking back to where it all started this time last year, I can’t believe how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned. This is without a doubt the biggest and the smallest project I have undertaken and if it wasn’t for my Ryobi tools by my side, it would have been next to impossible to reach the finish line. I had never done anything like this before so I started researching and found Pinterest to be, as always, a great free resource. I leaned on my experience in DIY and upcycling, to hit the ground running. I did this renovation in stages, starting with the exterior, then moving inside to work on the floors, ceilings and walls, then the furniture and decor, and finally finishing the exterior and moving everything in. Each stage was a little overwhelming, but I found the best approach was to write down a list of all the things I wanted to accomplish, and then break it down into smaller, manageable tasks.

Renovating a dollhouse is expensive if you buy everything, and I wanted to keep the costs down while also being as sustainable as possible. Because of this, I challenged myself to make as much as I could myself, such as the furniture and decor, and reuse materials I already had at home, including toilet rolls, coasters and cereal boxes. And I because I love a deadline, I promised my kids I would have this done by Christmas and since that’s a couple of weeks away, surely this gives me some serious brownie points. Excuse me while I pass out on the couch while my kids tear is apart - jokes, but seriously, this has been the most satisfying (not to mention the longest) project I’ve ever undertaken. My kids are obsessed and that makes me so happy!
