The Second International Mining and Metallurgy Forum has opened in Hyatt Regency Dushanbe

The forum's organizers promote Tajikistan's capabilities in mineral extraction and processing and create a platform for expanding international cooperation and strengthening the investment potential of the country's mining and metallurgy sector.

During the forum's opening, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda noted that the event symbolically coincided with Geologist's Day, celebrated in Tajikistan. He congratulated industry specialists on their professional holiday and wished them new achievements, successful projects, and further advancement in the mining and metallurgy sector.

"Strengthening and modernizing industrial sectors, as is the case globally, is a key area of the economy, directly impacting the resolution of economic and social problems. Among these, the mining and metallurgy industry occupies a special place in our country," emphasized Kokhir Rasulzoda.

The Prime Minister added that the creation of the forum platform is aimed at intensifying cooperation in the mining and metallurgical industry, restoring and expanding regional cooperative ties, and promoting the sustainable development of this economic sector, primarily with the goal of accelerating the country's industrialization.

Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir noted that the forum's main objective is to identify potential areas of cooperation between companies at all stages of the global value chain, as well as to create a platform for international cooperation by establishing contacts between local and foreign companies, brands, and enterprises.

According to the minister, achieving these goals will facilitate mutually beneficial integration of economies, increase production efficiency, and ensure the reliability of production chains.

Forum participants emphasized that Tajikistan possesses a resource base, with developed mineral extraction, processing, and export capabilities. Developing processing and metallurgy, expanding the production of metal products and semi-finished goods, and attracting investment and technology will enable the country to become a fully-fledged link in the global value chain, from ore mining to the production and export of finished goods.

The forum is expected to include the signing of an Action Plan, agreements, and memorandums with leading mining equipment manufacturers, as well as joint venture agreements with international investment companies and relevant foreign ministries. The ministry is expected to sign more than five cooperation agreements.

The forum will not only serve as a continuation of dialogue with investors, but also as a key catalyst for the development of Tajikistan's mining industry, especially if the government and businesses are prepared for real investment, modernization, and expanded international cooperation.
