As part of the project Honda Civic EK VTi sedan, I am starting to manual swap it! Today I am fitting the 5 speed manual gearbox onto the auto/cvt EK Civic. I am also showing you some of the hardware which is required for this job. Also just a few things to pay attention to and avoid while doing this. The trickiest part of this job is definitely aligning the gearbox to fit onto the engine. There is also a “trick” to remove the clutch fork as seen in the video. A really stupid thing I did was trying to install the gearbox and the drive shaft together. If you’re looking to do the same, I hope this video helps! If it has, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe!
In the end, I also shown there is a difference in the EK Civic chassis. The auto and manual has the bushing on the side of the rail, however because my EK Civic has a CVT gearbox, the chassis mounting is different. My plan is to make a mount for it.
Just to clarify, I am not a professional mechanic. Working on cars and documenting them is my hobby and I hope to be able to help you work on your old 90’s Honda too!
