25/30 - Terraform Import In AWS Explained With Demo

Welcome back to the Terraform series! In this video, I'll walk you through one of the most crucial skills for any DevOps engineer: bringing existing, manually created infrastructure under Terraform management using Terraform import and other methods.

We don't always start with a clean slate. Often, you will encounter legacy infrastructure or resources created via "ClickOps" in the AWS Console that need to be transitioned to Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This video dives deep into the `terraform import` command, explaining the workflow required to map real-world AWS resources to your local Terraform state file without destroying or recreating them. We will look at the syntax, the common pitfalls, and how to verify that your configuration matches the imported state.
