Leader of the House Indranee Rajah on Tuesday (Sep 19) said that suspending Transport Minister S Iswaran from parliament at present time would be "premature and pre-judging" the issue.
She was responding to a motion filed by Progress Singapore Party's Non-Constituency Members of Parliament Hazel Poa and Leong Mun Wai, who highlighted that Mr Iswaran continues to draw his full MP allowance of $192,500 per year despite him being suspended from his MP duties. Mr Iswaran is under investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau.
Ms Indranee added that if Mr Iswaran is found guilty after investigations conclude, the Prime Minister will consider a clawback of his salary and allowance as a matter of "party discipline".
