What is Hanoi Really Like? | First Impressions, Old Quarter, Hoàn Kiếm Lake and More

Join us as we depart from Kuala Lumpur and head back to Vietnam, our favourite country (so far) in Southeast Asia. This time, we're off to Hanoi for the next two weeks! In this video, eight-month-old Clara marks her tenth flight, we explore Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Ryan gets a not-so-ideal haircut, and we visit the jaw-dropping St. Joseph's Cathedral!

We discuss our experiences of getting into Vietnam, comparing Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and share a handy tip for those flying into Vietnam.
Once we're settled in, we dive into our exploration of Hanoi. We've been in Hanoi for about 48 hours and we're totally smitten! Come with us as we discover the city early in the morning, trying to beat the scorching heat. Experience the beautiful chaos of the city, with people folding laundry, selling flowers, and children riding bikes. It's truly an overwhelming and charming place.

We pay a visit to Hoan Kiem Lake (thanks for the pronunciation help ​⁠‪@learningvietnamesewiththao7614‬ ) a natural freshwater lake located in the heart of Hanoi and learn about the fascinating traditional Vietnamese story associated with it. Don't miss our time at the Note Coffee, a special coffee shop we've dreamed of visiting for years after seeing it on ​⁠‪@KaraandNate‬'s YouTube channel.
