Hi Everyone
Welcome back to another video and welcome back to @daveostlemountainman . If you are not subscribed to Dave then pop over after you have watched this video. He's a great lad with some brilliant adventures on his channel.
On a glorious day in the beautiful Lake District we go up one of the best mountains in England via it's best route. Bowfell, via the Climbers Traverse and the Great Slab.
Starting from the National Trust car park at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, we head for Stool End Farm and then head up The Band to pick up to eventually branch off left on to the Climbers Traverse path. If you have never done the Climbers Traverse path then it' a must. Don't be put off by the name. It takes it's name from the route rock climbers take to get to the bottom of Bowfell Buttress. As long as you have a decent head for heights then you will have no issues.
After reaching the end of the traverse you reach the bottom of a stone chute . Turn left here and it's a short scramble to the top. If the rock is dry then you can actually walk up the Great Slab. I would not recommend this if the rock is damp or icy, like it potentially was on this day which is why we stayed off it.
From the top of the slab it's just a short walk up to the summit of Bowfell. After Bowfell we dropped off the summit down to Three Tarns and then over all the Crinkle Crags.
After Crinkle Crags we headed off to a new area for us both and bagged two Birketts, of Stonesty Pike and Little Stand. Then it was small matter of heading over to Great Knott, to join the path back down in to Oxendale and back to the start
Below is a link to the route in OS maps.

Thanks for watching as always and see you on the next one.
All the best
Dave
