Over the weekend of 25th-26th January 2025, our 27-strong demolition team worked in two shifts to safely bring down the 1960s concrete footbridge on Askew Road, Gateshead. Using six excavators, the team expertly demolished the pedestrian access ramp and precast concrete access stairs in just 24 hours.
This project, a result of months of careful planning, paves the way for a new pedestrian crossing that will connect to a newly built housing development in Gateshead. With this improvement, there will be better access for vehicles traveling both eastbound and westbound, as well as enhanced pedestrian and cycling links to the town centre and beyond.
This is just one example of how we’re committed to rejuvenating spaces and improving infrastructure for the local community. Great to work alongside the team (at) Gateshead Council to deliver these works safely.
👏 Big thanks to the team for their dedication and skill in delivering another successful demolition project!
