Apart from my own banjos (which I manufacture under Quail Creek Banjos), my favorite open-back banjos are made by Ome. Inevitably, I wanted to make a comparison between similar instruments made by Ome and Quail Creek. There are two comparisons in this video:
1) Ome Flora vs Quail Creek "Blue River" -- Both instruments have a 12" rim, use the same bridge, incorporate a rolled brass tone ring, utilize a bone nut, and have a Renaissance head. The Ome is walnut and the Quail Creek is maple. Not a perfect match, but close.
2) I also compare the Quail Creek Blue River with a goat skin head and a Renaissance head.
More details can be found at QuailCreekBanjos.com. The song I play in the video is called "Ducks on the Millpond" and is in double c tuning. I used a Blue Yeti microphone with the same mic placement. I didn't tinker with the sound at all.
