Tâpwê: Songs of Truth is a documentary that looks at the powerful role that music and performance plays in our ongoing journey toward reconciliation. Featuring the music of JUNO-winning Cree composer, Andrew Balfour, JUNO-winning Cree-Dene composer, Sherryl Sewepagaham, and Anishinabek composer, Beverley McKiver, Tâpwê: Songs of Truth looks at the outcome of their week-long residency with the Amabile Choirs of London, Canada and the learning impact it had on everyone involved. Andrew and Sherryl worked with Amabile’s singers and staff explaining the historical and current Truths of Indigeneity through their music and stories while Indigenous students from Western University’s Faculty of Education added to the contextualization of these Truths through cultural explanations and activities as together we walked a path toward reconciliation and the decolonization of music through our singing.
