An auto swell axe fx tutorial on how to make an atmospheric guitar swell. When I first got my Axe FX 2, making ambient auto swell effects was high on the agenda. It’s kind of like an E bow effects however unlike my Kemper profiler, I didn’t have a recipe for how to make them. And because I was too excited to read the manual I didn’t immediately understand how the controllers worked (that controller button stared me right in the face for a while!). I also couldn’t find a reliable auto swell tutorial online that didn’t use a volume pedal. A lot of the ambient swell tutorial on YouTube were based around physical pedals, or were players showcasing their ambient guitars skills. Ambient guitar effects are a must for me, and for many progressive metal artists who need great ambient tones to add at atmosphere to their already great metal rhythm tones
It’s fairly easy to make this kind of effect with a volume pedal or with the volume knob on your guitar, but I wanted to make a patch that would do all that for me automatically, or that I could time match to the tempo of a song.
This is also a great simple introduction to the powerful controller page in axe edit.
