Masvingo gets 20 new Zupco buses

The Minister of State and Devolution for Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira has unveiled 20 new Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco) buses allocated for use in the province.
He unveiled the buses during a function held at the Showgrounds on Friday and thereafter Zanu PF supporters were driven in the buses around CBD singing and celebrating the new acquisitions.
For about 30 minutes the drivers blew the horns as they crisscrossed the city.
The Xiamen Golden Dragon 64 seaters buses which were recently commissioned by President Emerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday were procured from China.
Chadzamira told the gathering that the new buses are going to ply urban, intercity, and rural routes and will provide relief particularly with Christmas traveling around the corner.
“It is a great honor and rare privilege to officiate this historic unveiling of 20 ZUPCO buses allocated to Masvingo Province from the fleet recently commissioned by President Mnangagwa.
“The initiative’s main thrust is to improve the public transport system in the country underpinned by a desire to improve service delivery to meet up with a vision of an upper-middle-income nation by 2030,” said Chadzamira.
Masvingo Province Zupco Division Manager, Ezekiel Mazarire said the buses were meant to cater for nine depots in the Province.
