CHASING DREAMS - A High Altitude Mountain Film | Mount NUN (7135 M) | Ladakh Climbing Documentary

This documentary covers our journey to the highest mountain of Jammu and Kashmir, Mount Nun. The mountain is 7135 meters high and lies close to the Ladakh border.

This is a story of 16 individuals who are chasing their dream of climbing this magnificent mountain that has attracted climbers over the years. With tough climbing and survival conditions on top of -35 degree Celsius weather, this climb shows some of the greatest obstacles one has to cross in a quest to reach the ultimate summit.

A very beautiful 200km drive from Srinagar takes us to Kargil, the home of Nun and Kun mountain Peaks. The actual trek to the base camp starts from beautiful Tangol village.

Short Itinerary of usual climb on Mount Nun:

Day 1: Srinagar to Kargil Drive (200km, 8-9 hrs)
Day 2: Acclimatization in Kargil
Day 3: Kargil to Tangol Drive (75km, 3 hrs)
Day 4: Tangol to Base Camp Trek
Day 5: Acclimatization in Base Camp
Day 6: Base Camp to Camp 1 load ferry
Day 7: Base Camp to Camp 1 shift
Day 8: Camp 1 to Camp 2 load ferry
Day 9: Camp 1 to Camp 2 shift
Day 10: Camp 2 to Camp 3 shift
Day 11: Camp 3 to Summit and back to Camp 1
Day 12: Camp 1 to Base Camp
Day 13: Base Camp to Tangol and back to Kargil

Travel Tips:

Stay: Kargil has some affordable stays. We stayed in City Guest House which has decent rooms, and the owner is very helpful as well.

Camera: Try to carry as minimum as possible as this is a very challenging high mountain climb and adding extra weight can cause problems.

Clothing: Layer up on high altitudes and carry good quality down jacket and down pant for mountaineering. Should have temperature rating of -20 or below.

Skincare: Apply sunscreen at all times when exposed to sun. Should be at least 50 SPF.

Eyecare: Carrying a sunglass is mandatory that should cover entire eyes.

Health: Always stay hydrated and acclimatize well.

Environment: Keep the mountains clean. 😉
