RECIPES!!!
Grandma's Famous Sugar Cookies:
2/3 cup Crisco or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup milk
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla for 4-5 minutes. Add milk and mix. Sift together and add flour, baking powder, and salt. Chill dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut dough into shapes and place on an ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes approx. 2 1/2 dozen small cookies.
Royal Icing:
2 large egg whites
2 1/2–3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. clear vanilla (optional)
Pinch of salt (optional)
Beat egg whites until frothy. Add powdered sugar a little at a time and mix on low until combined. Increase to medium-high and beat 1–2 minutes until icing is thick, glossy, and forms soft peaks. Add vanilla and salt if desired. Adjust with small amounts of water for flooding or extra powdered sugar for piping. Keep icing covered at all times to prevent drying. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
