PREVIOUSLY:
While imprisoned inside the Aveh transport ship, Fei is beginning to doubt himself and his past, while Citan is more concerned by the signs that are potentially pointing to an event he was told about by a being named Emperor called the "Time of the Gospel".

Moments later, a band of desert pirates onboard a submersible land cruiser sets their sights on Weltall and launches an attack against the Aveh Transport Ship. Fei and Citan manages to escape the sinking ship and hops on Weltall, but gets surrounded by the pirates. The pirate leader, thinking that Fei is an Aveh soldier, launches at him in an attempt to take him down and take Weltall for themselves.

During the fight however, a sandpit appears below the two battling gears and swallows them both up, taking them down to the stalactite caves below. Meanwhile, Citan appears to recognize one of the pirate officers named Sigurd. He invites the doctor onboard their ship and presents to know things that Citan knows.

Back at the caves, Fei and Bart are reluctantly forced to work with each other, and while looking for a way out, they stumble upon an archaeologist of sort named Balthasar, who shares his studies about how human fossils have stopped appearing over 10,000 years ago, before suddenly reappearing again, but with different characteristics this time. Bart asks the old man about Ethos' theory of evolution but gets quickly dismissed and is told a story of an old myth that humans once lived with Gods in a paradise in the sky. Humans attained incredible wisdom however by eating a forbidden fruit, angering God in the process and gets banished from the promised land for their sins. In retaliation, the humans built giants to challenge God, but he destroyed them all in the conflict. God was injured in the battle and so he took paradise with him deep beneath the oceans to sleep for eons, but not before creating right-hearted humans to inhabit the planet, the created humans are the ancestors of the current generation of humans.

Bart then asks the old man about the rumors of a so-called "God Gear" that is more powerful than any gear in existence, to which Old Man Bal clarifies that he is talking about the "Omnigear," but further states that such Gear does not exist and is only a legend.

Balthasar then reveals a way out to the duo via the Sand Barrier. Fei and Bart navigate their way through the caves and shuts down the Sand Sensors to prevent the Sand Barrier from closing again once it is opened. As promised, the old man opens up the gate for them, and decides to fix their Gears as a parting gift. Upon checking their Gears, he is surprised by Weltall as Fei overhears him whispering that the Gear hosts the spirit of the Slayer of God. When asked more about what he said, the old man refuses to explain further before he kicks them out of his cave.

Before making their way out of the cave entirely, Fei and Bart had to fend off a Guardian Gear called Calamity. After letting their guards down thinking that they had defeated the enemy, Calamity suddenly rose up once again, attempting to ambush Bart. Fei then subconsciously unleashes a barrage of attacks at the enemy gear, completely annihilating it in the process. Bart is surprised by Fei's capabilities but pays no more attention to it after Fei refuses to talk about it.
